How I Made My Website in Less Than a Day

The short version
I built this entire website — the one you're looking at right now — in less than a day. Not a template. Not a drag-and-drop builder with a logo swap. A fully custom site with a blog, a project portfolio, an admin panel, and a design system I'm genuinely proud of.
How? By combining two things: years of design experience and a very capable AI collaborator.
Why I could pull this off
I'm a trained architect turned web agency owner. I've spent years thinking about how things look, how they feel, how people move through spaces — whether that's a building or a webpage. I know Figma, I know Webflow, I know what good design looks like and what makes someone stay on a page versus bounce.
I also know the modern tech landscape inside out. Not because I write code all day, but because I work with these tools constantly. Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Supabase, Vercel — I understand what each piece does, where it fits, and why it matters. That knowledge is the difference between asking for the right thing and asking for the wrong thing.
The AI part
Here's where it gets interesting. I used Claude — an AI coding assistant — to handle the actual development. Every line of code on this site was written through a conversation between me and the AI.
But this isn't a case of "I typed a prompt and a website appeared." That's not how it works, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something. What actually happened was a back-and-forth. I directed the design. I made decisions about layout, colour, typography, spacing, and interaction. I reviewed every stage and pushed back when something wasn't right. The AI handled the technical heavy lifting — the code, the database, the deployment — while I steered the ship.
Think of it like working with a brilliant developer who never gets tired, never forgets what you discussed, and builds exactly what you describe. The catch is you need to describe it well. That's where the design background and tech literacy come in.
What we built
This site has a full content management system, a project showcase with filterable tech stacks, a markdown-powered blog (you're reading it), image uploads, dark mode, responsive design down to mobile, and a clean admin panel for managing everything. It's fast, it's accessible, and it's built on proper, production-grade technology.
All in a day.
What this means for you
If you're a business owner thinking about a new website, this is worth paying attention to. The old model — weeks of briefing, wireframing, rounds of revisions, months to launch — doesn't have to be the only option anymore. With the right experience and the right tools, things can move dramatically faster without cutting corners.
I'm not saying every project is a one-day job. Complex platforms, e-commerce builds, and bespoke applications still take time. But for a sharp, well-designed web presence? The timeline just got a lot shorter.
If that sounds like something you need, get in touch.
